About TacoBob's Custom Garage

Hi, I'm Cody, the owner and builder behind TacoBob's Custom Garage.

I've always enjoyed working with my hands, learning how things work, and figuring out how to do things myself. Over the years, I've been involved in quite a few hobbies, from painting Warhammer miniatures and airbrushing RC car bodies to building model rockets, racing HO slot cars, working on guitars, and building custom computers.

I've learned a lot from those hobbies over the years, and it's surprising how often skills from one project come in handy on another.

Customizing Hot Wheels and diecast cars gives me a chance to put a lot of those skills to use. I enjoy everything from simple wheel swaps and custom paint jobs to taking a car completely apart and seeing what I can do with it.

I also enjoy building Gaslands cars, photographing my finished projects, and learning new techniques. Eventually, I'd like to get into making my own 3D-printed parts and accessories as well.

I'm currently building inventory and getting things ready to start selling my customs. I'm taking my time with it because I want to make sure the cars I put up for sale are something I'm proud to have my name on. I'm also planning to give every custom its own serial number and identification label, making each car an individually numbered TacoBob's build.

My wife and I recently sold our home in the city and purchased 20 acres of land where we plan to build our new home. We're going through a pretty big transition right now, and my workspace is limited while we get everything figured out. I'm really looking forward to having a dedicated shop where I can continue improving my skills, work on more projects, and grow TacoBob's Custom Garage.

There's still plenty to learn and a lot of work ahead, but I'm enjoying the process and looking forward to what's next.

My Approach to Every Build

One thing I've learned over the years is that sometimes it's the little details that make the biggest difference.

When I'm working on a car, I pay attention to things like the paint, wheel fitment, stance, and how everything looks together. Sometimes a simple change is all a car really needs. Other times, I have a completely different look in mind and end up rebuilding most of it.

I enjoy working with different paints and finishes, especially metallics, candies, and pearls. There's a lot you can do with paint alone, and I'm always trying to improve my techniques and get better results.

Not every project goes exactly as planned, and I've definitely made my share of mistakes along the way. But I learn something from almost every build, even the ones that don't turn out quite how I wanted.

I'm not trying to turn out as many cars as possible. I'd rather take my time, keep improving, and make sure I'm happy with the finished product.

That's what I'm working toward with TacoBob's Custom Garage.
